About Garrity
I am truly passionate about my work! I believe that caring for our mental health—considering it from a holistic perspective—is a fundamental human necessity. Just as we nurture our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, we must also attend to our mental selves.
Witnessing the growth and confidence that result from addressing one's mental health needs is incredibly rewarding. It's akin to sprouting new wings or casting off a heavy load that no longer needs to be borne. As we cultivate new thought patterns, release outdated beliefs, establish boundaries, embrace self-discovery, practice self-compassion, heal past wounds, and navigate our emotional challenges, we learn to thrive.
I remain hopeful that the stigma surrounding mental health and the struggle of facing it alone can be diminished. Everyone deserves support and someone in their corner.
I graduated with my master's degree in counseling from Boise State University and with a bachelor's degree in social work from Utah State University. I have over 15 years of combined experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
I pull from a wide variety of experiences, including working in children’s services, individual, group, and academic counseling in the elementary and high school levels, community mental health, facilitated community support groups for grief and loss, as well as assisting individuals and families to cope with terminal illness and death in hospice care. This array of work environments has provided perspective and valuable insight into how to help individuals find success in their own counseling experience.
Additional training includes treatment of Trauma and PTSD, attachment issues, addressing mental health in rural areas, school emergency response, body image, and coping with grief and loss.
My style of strength-based counseling pulls from cognitive, behavioral, Adlerian, mindfulness, and client-centered approaches.
Spare time usually finds me enjoying the outdoors, gardening, and building blanket forts with my kids.
I'm currently a member of the following organizations:
-
